I know that theoretically, you might have to. But do people really report it? I’m asking because a friend of mine said he won $50,000 and had the winnings electronically transferred to his bank account. Would that transfer be reported to the IRS?

I want to start a US Poker site that allows people to complete offers and shop online to receive poker chips. Then can then play with the chips they earned and cashout whenever they want. There would be no purchase required for them to earn chips.

Does anyone know whether it would be legal to run this in the US and whether you would need any special licenses, etc?

i was planning on holding a small poker tournament in a non-casino building in Michigan. I wasn’t going to take a cut of the pot only charge money for people to get in. The pot is a 100% give. Is this legal? It would be a big help if you could also post a link to specific legislature that states the laws about gambling. Thanks.

I may be doing a short documentary on amateur poker and am wondering how fast it has grown and if anyone has any somewhat evidence somewhere of how its growing (example: how many bars/resturants in the country are having poker nights…). Im trying to focus on the amateur ‘home-grown’ feel of people getting together to play the game.

How do you host a poker game where 25 people decided they wanted to come? How should I split people up?

I’ve heard people say they like to act friendly and courteous to everyone at the table so that a) people will assume they are chumps and try to take advantage of them and b) people will be less inclined to try to bust them from the table. I’ve also heard people take the poker brat approach and try to antagonize other players at the table so that they WILL try to take shots at them. What’s your approach?

There is at least one show late at night that has people playing Poker. I have it on for noise while I do other things. But I don’t know why anyone would actually WATCH the show after maybe the first time.
So. What is the appeal of the Poker shows?
